The arts – and the National PTA Reflections program – support student success and serve as a valuable tool for building strong partnerships in your school community. Celebrate arts learning in your school community with Reflections.

Each year, over 200,000 students in Pre-K through Grade 12 create original works of art in response to a student-selected theme. The theme for the 2026- 2027 program year is "What My Culture Means to Me". Students submit their completed works of art in one or all of the available arts categories: 

 

Dance Choreography
Solo & Ensemble 

 

Film Production
Animation, Narrative, Documentary, Experimental, or Multimedia

 

Literature
Prose, Poetry, Drama, Reflective Essay, Narrative, Short Story

 

Music Composition
All music styles and combo of instrumentation

 

Photography
Single Print/Digital Media

 

2D Visual Arts
Original print, Drawing, Painting, Collage, Metal Etching, Fiber Work, Computer Generated Artwork

 

Accessible Arts Division
Eligible to students receiving IDEA or ADA services

Student winners from the local level have the opportunity to move up through the district, region, council, and state PTA programs to the national level. National Reflections winners are announced in May. National PTA then collects and curates the traveling exhibit for the next year. To learn more, visit the Awards Page
